On a single night, Ronald McDonald House at Stanford turned away 67 families needing a room.

"The House provides a consistent, caring community in times of crisis. With this support, children and their families can overcome incredible challenges and together build a healthy future."

―Daniel Bernstein, MD, Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford pediatric cardiologist, Ronald McDonald House at Stanford Board of Directors

"I honestly don’t know what we would have done without Ronald McDonald House at Stanford. Here we have found a safe place to stay together and heal with other families who share our struggles, hopes, and joys."

Our Challenge

  • We've provided a home-away-from-home for nearly 375,000 families since opening our doors in 1979.

  • More intensive treatment equals longer stays at our House; in 2013, the average length of stay was 29 days, compared to only six days back in 1979.

  • We've reached capacity at our current facility and have an average of 40 to 50 families on the waiting list every night.

  • For many families on the waiting list, there is no good Plan B. They're far from home and often cannot afford to stay in hotels.

The Solution

  • Hope is Growing is an ambitious fundraising campaign to fund the expansion of our House, improve existing space, and increase the endowment to ensure sustainability.

  • The expansion will increase the number of family rooms from the current 47 to 123, allowing us to accommodate more families in need.

  • This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity is made possible by a generous gift of land from Stanford University.

  • Learn how you can help hope grow!
